Sandy Steers Death, Obituary Big Bear Valley Eagle

With great sorrow, we inform our Friends of Big Bear Valley eagle family that Sandy Steers passed away on the evening of 2/11/2026. Her loss is deeply felt by our team and by the countless individuals whose lives she touched through her work and her words.

More information will be shared in the future. In the meantime, we respectfully ask for time and space as we mourn and come to terms with this heartbreaking news.

Community members have already begun expressing their gratitude and admiration. Marla Yeomans reflected, “I loved reading anything she wrote or listening to anything she said. She was very smart, extremely articulate, knowledgeable, and loved to teach us all about nature in the Big Bear area.” Leticia Porter shared, “She wrote beautifully and made us feel like we were on a branch next to the nest keeping watch. It would be wonderful if her posts could be compiled into a book or blog so she will be remembered and her knowledge will continue to be shared.”

Sandy’s ability to educate, inspire, and connect us more deeply with the natural world will remain a treasured part of her legacy.
