Griffin, Georgia Woman Survives Kidnapping, Assault; Suspect Still at Large

Griffin, Georgia — Police are actively searching for a suspect following a reported kidnapping and assault involving an adult female who escaped captivity early Wednesday. The victim reported being physically assaulted throughout the ordeal, including episodes of choking and biting. She successfully fled and sought refuge at a business on North Hill Street, where she notified authorities.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Carlos Elder Jr., is believed to be operating a gray Jeep Compass displaying Georgia license plate DBD6076. The vehicle was last observed on Highway 151 around mid-afternoon Wednesday. Law enforcement officials have issued a public safety advisory, noting the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Formal charges include kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, and battery. The victim is cooperating with investigators, and the case remains under active investigation.
