LANCASTER CITY, Pa. — Mason Nickel, a 23-year-old Wrightsville resident, died Wednesday morning in what authorities describe as a construction accident tied to water main repair work. The fatal incident occurred around 10 a.m. behind a business in the 1300 block of Arcadia Road.

Emergency crews responded to the scene after reports of an accident involving excavating equipment. The Lancaster County Coroner later confirmed Nickel sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the location.

Friends and coworkers say Nickel was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his job. His passing has left coworkers and community members mourning a young life cut short.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has launched an investigation into the incident, which may take up to six months to complete. Funeral services, memorial plans, and obituary information will be shared by the family once arrangements are finalized.
