Palmetto Elementary School Shooting Lockdown Today: Active shooter reported in Georgia’s Fulton County; Bear Creek Middle School Safety in Fairburn
Palmetto Elementary School entered a hard lockdown Tuesday afternoon as law enforcement carried out a criminal investigation in the immediate vicinity of the campus, Fulton County Schools officials said. District leaders confirmed there was no threat to students or staff and that no students were involved in the incident.
District spokesperson Brian Noyes indicated that the investigation occurred on school property but outside the elementary school building. As a safety precaution, students were transported to Bear Creek Middle School in Fairburn while officers remained on scene.
Video from 11Alive’s SkyTracker showed a portion of the school’s front parking lot secured with police tape. Authorities focused their activity outside the building, and no injuries related to students or staff were reported.
Officials stated the lockdown would remain in effect until law enforcement clears the scene. Parents and community members were asked not to come to the school and to wait for official updates regarding reunification procedures. Further details about the investigation have not been released.
